What Tempe's Housing Stock Means for a Centralized Lighting Install
Tempe’s housing stock is more varied than anywhere else we work in the East Valley. Around Mesa, a lot of the housing stock still dates to the 1950s and 60s, and those single-level houses tend to have low crawl spaces underneath and barely enough clearance above the ceiling to route a cable. That changes how a centralized lighting panel gets wired. Instead of running low-voltage cable through open attic space, we’re often chasing walls, using existing chases, or routing through a crawl space to get every switch leg back to one panel location. For an older Maple-Ash home, the same panel lets us pull a five-switch bank at the kitchen entry down to one keypad without adding a single new hole in the wall beyond the keypad itself. Every scene, arrive, entertain, goodnight, can be triggered from that keypad, a remote, or an automation app once it’s wired back to the panel.
