Scottsdale Properties Aren't All Built the Same

Scottsdale covers a wide range of construction, from compact mid-century homes near downtown and south Scottsdale to sprawling custom properties on hillside and desert lots in North Scottsdale, and each end of that range calls for a different approach to alarm system installation in Scottsdale. A smaller, single-story home with a tight floor plan is usually a straightforward job: doors, windows, a keypad or two, and a panel placed somewhere central. Up in North Scottsdale, the challenge looks different. Out there, hillside and desert parcels frequently include detached casitas, separate guest quarters, long driveways and outbuildings positioned far from the main house, so a single alarm setup ends up needing to cover multiple structures instead of one. Getting a signal to reliably reach a detached casita or a garage at the far end of a long driveway is not something we solve by adding more wireless sensors and hoping for the best. It is a wiring problem, and it gets solved by running proper cable between structures during the install so the whole property reports back to one panel instead of behaving like several disconnected systems. We look at the property first, walk the layout, and figure out where wire needs to run before we ever talk about which sensors go where.

The Products We Install and How We Handle Existing Systems

Scottsdale alarm installs come down to three product lines: Honeywell’s Vista and Pro Series panels, Clare Controls, or Ring. We supply and install Ring hardware too, though it runs on a Ring Protect plan and gets monitored by Ring directly rather than through us. We don’t sign anyone into a long-term contract to get a system installed. You pay for quality equipment and a complete installation up front, and the system is yours to run from there. If your property already has a different brand on the wall, we’ll swap the primary components over to one of ours rather than service a system we didn’t build, since a narrow set of products is how we keep installs and support reliable. That matters most on a property that sits empty part of the year: whether you monitor through a third party or just check alerts on your own phone, the system needs to behave the same way every time nobody is home.

During the course of our new build, we got a few AV quotes, but when I visited the showroom and spoke to Greg I was sold. During the build process I was there daily watching subs and their work, AMP AV was always on time, extremely meticulous in the routing of cables and placement of equipment, and always clean. At the end of the install, everything was as planned and looks amazing. Never being a home audio guy, it sold me after this experience with Greg and Ryan. Also being a little tech challenged, they came back out to dial me and my wife in on how to use everything to it's potential. Definitely recommend, and this is not a paid review. 5 stars!

Highly recommended. They installed a home theater surround sound system and also fixed some faulty wiring for our patio speakers. Excellent work quality, great communication, and showed up on time for each planned visit.

Greg and his team are pros; they were very comprehensive in the consultation process, provided detailed quotes, and showed value. Once on-site the crew was knowledgeable, respectful, and eager to customize to meet our needs. I’d recommend any day of the week.

Greg and his team were great to work with! Greg came out for the initial assessment and answered all of my questions. When his techs Ryan and Easton showed up they were prompt, courteous, and did a wonderful job installing my network drops and cameras. Highly recommend working with the Amp AV team!

We absolutely recommend Greg/Amp AV. This company came out (hired mid to late 2019) and fixed a huge mess from our previous home automation guys. Our system was left complicated. Greg is honest, patient, and extremely willing to help. Amp AV gave us options and were willing to work around with the equipment we already had. Not only are they friendly and professional, the response time is quick and scheduling is made in a timely manner. We will continue to use this company and I would highly recommend for your home automation/tech needs. Prices are fair, I did compare to a few different companies.

Scottsdale Questions

Yes. Every system we install can send alerts straight to your phone, so you can check status or get notified of activity no matter where you are. Some homeowners self-monitor that way and decide for themselves whether to call anyone in. Homeowners who'd rather have a monitoring company handling alerts and dispatch instead of self-monitoring can add professional monitoring through one of our recommended providers, and that arrangement is separate from Amp AV's own services.

Not necessarily its own system, but it does need to be wired into the same one. We run cable from the main panel out to the casita or guest house during installation so a door or window opening out there reports to the same panel and the same notifications as the main house. Treating it as a separate system usually means separate apps and separate monitoring, which is more to manage, not more secure.

No. A compact single-story home near Old Town needs far fewer sensors than a sprawling North Scottsdale estate, so we scope the system to your actual floor plan, typically door and window contacts on the perimeter plus one or two interior motion sensors. You get the same monitoring and remote access options as a larger custom home, just sized to the square footage you actually have to cover.

Yes, but distance is the deciding factor. On a long hillside or desert lot where the garage or workshop sits well past the main house, a purely wireless sensor at that distance can lose reliability. We run a wired connection back to the main panel for anything beyond typical wireless range, so the detached structure reports in exactly the same as a door off your kitchen.

It changes the layout, not the coverage. A wall of view glass on a custom North Scottsdale home usually means large sliding or pivot doors instead of a few standard windows, so we place contacts on each operable panel rather than assuming one sensor covers the whole wall. The fixed glass sections do not need contacts since they cannot open, only the panels that do.
