Landscape Audio Across Scottsdale's Biggest Lots
Scottsdale runs from compact mid-century lots near Old Town and McCormick Ranch to hillside desert parcels in North Scottsdale, where the pool, ramada, and casita can sit a genuine distance from the house. That range changes what an outdoor sound system in Scottsdale actually needs to solve. On a larger North Scottsdale property, direct-burial speaker wire run from an indoor amplifier out to a pool deck or detached ramada covers real distance, often past the point where a single loop of wire keeps volume even from one end to the other. We plan those properties as separate zones off the same amplifier rather than one long run, so the ramada doesn’t sound thin compared to the patio near the house. Desert landscaping actually works in our favor here: most of these lots already have drip irrigation trenched through decomposed granite, and we route speaker wire along that same path instead of opening new ground. Smaller south Scottsdale lots have the opposite problem: one zone is plenty for the whole yard, but block walls, mature citrus, and tight side yards limit where that wire can practically travel from the house to the patio.
Wired for How You'll Actually Use the Yard
Once the wiring path is set, the build is the same outdoor entertainment work we do on every job, sized to the property. For landscape speakers we bury direct-burial wire between a stub-out box near the house and an amplifier that lives inside, tucked into a climate-controlled closet rather than the garage, because Scottsdale’s summer heat takes a toll on electronics. Landscape speakers carry a manufacturer warranty of about 5 years, patio speakers 10 or more, with Amp AV backing the labor on either for 2 years. On the control side, the outdoor zone connects into whichever system the house already runs, Sonos, VSSL, Control4, or Savant, so audio at the pool and ramada behaves the same as everywhere else in the home. Patios and ramadas that catch afternoon sun get outdoor-rated televisions built to handle Arizona heat and direct light, not an indoor set moved outside and covered between uses. A few of these speakers are on display in our showroom if you want to hear them before deciding.

During the course of our new build, we got a few AV quotes, but when I visited the showroom and spoke to Greg I was sold. During the build process I was there daily watching subs and their work, AMP AV was always on time, extremely meticulous in the routing of cables and placement of equipment, and always clean. At the end of the install, everything was as planned and looks amazing. Never being a home audio guy, it sold me after this experience with Greg and Ryan. Also being a little tech challenged, they came back out to dial me and my wife in on how to use everything to it's potential. Definitely recommend, and this is not a paid review. 5 stars!Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommended. They installed a home theater surround sound system and also fixed some faulty wiring for our patio speakers. Excellent work quality, great communication, and showed up on time for each planned visit.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team are pros; they were very comprehensive in the consultation process, provided detailed quotes, and showed value. Once on-site the crew was knowledgeable, respectful, and eager to customize to meet our needs. I’d recommend any day of the week.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team were great to work with! Greg came out for the initial assessment and answered all of my questions. When his techs Ryan and Easton showed up they were prompt, courteous, and did a wonderful job installing my network drops and cameras. Highly recommend working with the Amp AV team!Posted on Google![]()

We absolutely recommend Greg/Amp AV. This company came out (hired mid to late 2019) and fixed a huge mess from our previous home automation guys. Our system was left complicated. Greg is honest, patient, and extremely willing to help. Amp AV gave us options and were willing to work around with the equipment we already had. Not only are they friendly and professional, the response time is quick and scheduling is made in a timely manner. We will continue to use this company and I would highly recommend for your home automation/tech needs. Prices are fair, I did compare to a few different companies.Load more
Scottsdale Questions
Yes, but we treat it as its own zone rather than stretching one speaker run the whole distance. The amplifier stays indoors and we plan a dedicated direct-burial run out to the ramada, controlled from the same app as the rest of the house. That's the reason an outdoor sound system in Scottsdale on a lot this size gets planned in zones, not one wire run.
An outdoor-rated TV will. Outdoor televisions are built and heat-rated for direct Arizona sun and are bright enough to stay watchable in daylight, unlike an indoor set moved outside. We don't recommend or warranty an indoor TV in that spot, since the heat and light on a west-facing patio are exactly what outdoor sets are built to handle.
Scottsdale runs from compact mid-century homes near Old Town to sprawling custom properties in North Scottsdale, and the two need very different systems. On a smaller lot we are not running the long buried cable to a detached casita or building a multi-network setup that a hillside estate needs. Speaker count, wire runs, and control gear are sized to your actual footprint, so a smaller Scottsdale property gets a system built for it, not a trimmed-down estate build.
Plenty of Scottsdale properties are second homes or seasonal residences, so this comes up often. Outdoor audio and video tied into a Control4 or Savant system can be checked on and adjusted remotely, so you can confirm things are working before you arrive for the season. If you are not running a full smart home platform, a Sonos or VSSL zone can still be opened and controlled from your phone from anywhere with an internet connection.
A lot of Scottsdale patios sit against large expanses of west-facing glass, and sun exposure like that comes up in nearly every outdoor conversation here. Motorized shades and lighting control can be wired into the same system as your outdoor audio and TV, so everything runs from one app or one remote instead of separate controls for each. Worth raising during design if afternoon sun is a factor on your patio.
