When a room stays true black with the door closed, a standard white or gray screen surface works fine; once daylight sneaks in past a doorway or a small window, we turn to an ambient-light-rejecting silver screen such as the Screen Innovations Slate, which holds contrast and black level steady even with some light in the room. We finish with high-fidelity surround sound, tuned to that room’s actual dimensions.
