What Chandler's Building Boom Left Behind the Walls
Most of the homes we handle for network installation in Chandler went up during the city’s fastest growth years, the 1990s and 2000s, when master-planned communities filled in what used to be farmland east of Phoenix. That building era matters here because these houses are almost never a blank slate. Before we run a single new cable, we check what is already behind the drywall. Homes in Ocotillo and Fulton Ranch frequently already have Cat5e or coax pulled to a closet, left over from the original builder’s phone and cable setup, and that rough-in often becomes the backbone for a proper network rather than something we tear out and replace. That one check can change the scope and cost of a project by a lot. Chandler’s more recently built homes tend to lean toward open concept great rooms with tall ceilings and glass walls that open toward the backyard. Those big open volumes are harder for a single wireless router to fill evenly than a house broken into smaller, boxier rooms. Signal has more open air to cover and more glass to pass through, so access point placement and count matter more here than in a tighter floor plan, and we plan for that before we mount anything.
How We Build the Network Around It
For the equipment itself, we install and support Ubiquiti’s UniFi line the same way for network installation across Chandler as we do everywhere else in the East Valley, because it holds up. We’ve found that UniFi hardware experiences fewer material defect failures than the consumer-grade equipment most competitors install by default, and its self-optimizing WiFi reduces the odds of a setup error. A smaller Chandler home or condo usually only needs the UniFi Dream Router as an all-in-one unit. On a bigger two-story house, particularly the open great-room floor plans we see so often in this market, we usually spec a rack-mounted UniFi Dream Machine Pro paired with extra switches, because its 10 Gbps SFP ports give the network headroom to grow. Where someone wants coverage on a covered patio, we use Ubiquiti’s outdoor-rated access points, mounted with an eye toward what the community’s HOA allows for visible equipment, so the coverage does not come with a fight over how it looks. Hardwired connections still beat WiFi for anything that streams or automates, so we run wire where we can before leaning on wireless.

If the space is tight, we add ventilation or shelving rather than relocate the hub somewhere else in the house.
Often, yes. Some homes in Chandler's master-planned communities with pool casitas or detached garages already have empty conduit run from construction, when that is there we can pull Cat6 through it to a small UniFi switch or access point in the casita. When there is no conduit, an outdoor-rated Ubiquiti access point mounted under the covered patio roof extends a clean signal to the pool area without needing a separate router out there.

Ubiquiti makes ceiling-mounted, humidity-rated access points small enough to sit inside a covered patio ceiling or a soffit, out of sight from the street and from neighboring yards, which keeps most HOA exterior guidelines satisfied. We always work inside whatever your HOA specifies rather than around it, so we ask for the exact exterior rules before picking a mount location.
