Amp AV handles home theater installation in Gilbert and across the East Valley, about 15 minutes from our Mesa shop. Gilbert is largely a new-build town, and that is good news for anyone adding technology: a large share of the homes we see were prewired at construction, so the structured cabling is already in the walls waiting to be used.

What a Gilbert New-Build Prewire Actually Gets You
Most of the houses we work in around Gilbert went up in the last twenty five years, and the builder ran cable before the drywall went up. That is a real head start: when we open the wall behind the TV location, there is usually already a run back to a closet somewhere in the house. The problem is that builder grade prewire was designed to a spec sheet, not to your room. Speaker locations often land wherever a framer found it easy to drill rather than where surround imaging actually needs them, and the wiring closet itself is usually a shallow, unventilated space sized for a modem and a router, not a receiver, an amplifier, and a rack of gear that generates real heat. On a home theater installation in Gilbert, the first walkthrough is less about deciding what to add and more about auditing what is already there: which runs are usable as pulled, which need to be repositioned a few feet for correct speaker placement, and whether the closet needs ventilation or a different location entirely before equipment goes in. That audit is most of the planning work, and it is specific to how these houses were built, not something a generic theater quote accounts for.
Screens, Displays, and the Calibration That Ties It Together
Once the wiring and equipment location are sorted, home theater installation in Gilbert follows Amp AV’s standard process: structural wiring, projector or display mounting, and final calibration, all handled by the same certified technicians so nothing gets installed in isolation. For a dedicated theater room, most Gilbert homeowners land on a ceiling mounted, standard throw projector with a screen between 110 and 150 inches, since a room built for one purpose can go bigger and darker than a shared living space. When a room can be blacked out completely, including the ceiling, a basic white or gray screen surface still delivers good image quality. In media rooms that see any daylight, we specify a silver ALR screen instead, which holds contrast even with some ambient light present. Either way, we integrate high fidelity surround sound and finish with full calibration so the image and the audio are tuned to that specific room, not just installed and left alone.

During the course of our new build, we got a few AV quotes, but when I visited the showroom and spoke to Greg I was sold. During the build process I was there daily watching subs and their work, AMP AV was always on time, extremely meticulous in the routing of cables and placement of equipment, and always clean. At the end of the install, everything was as planned and looks amazing. Never being a home audio guy, it sold me after this experience with Greg and Ryan. Also being a little tech challenged, they came back out to dial me and my wife in on how to use everything to it's potential. Definitely recommend, and this is not a paid review. 5 stars!Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommended. They installed a home theater surround sound system and also fixed some faulty wiring for our patio speakers. Excellent work quality, great communication, and showed up on time for each planned visit.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team are pros; they were very comprehensive in the consultation process, provided detailed quotes, and showed value. Once on-site the crew was knowledgeable, respectful, and eager to customize to meet our needs. I’d recommend any day of the week.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team were great to work with! Greg came out for the initial assessment and answered all of my questions. When his techs Ryan and Easton showed up they were prompt, courteous, and did a wonderful job installing my network drops and cameras. Highly recommend working with the Amp AV team!Posted on Google![]()

We absolutely recommend Greg/Amp AV. This company came out (hired mid to late 2019) and fixed a huge mess from our previous home automation guys. Our system was left complicated. Greg is honest, patient, and extremely willing to help. Amp AV gave us options and were willing to work around with the equipment we already had. Not only are they friendly and professional, the response time is quick and scheduling is made in a timely manner. We will continue to use this company and I would highly recommend for your home automation/tech needs. Prices are fair, I did compare to a few different companies.Load more
Gilbert Questions
Sometimes, partially. We test every run before quoting anything: usable Cat5e or speaker wire gets reused, but builder closets are rarely ventilated or sized for real equipment, and speaker locations are often a few feet off from correct placement. You get an honest answer after the walkthrough, not before it.
For real equipment, yes. Builders size that space for a router, not a receiver and an amplifier that need airflow. We either add ventilation to that closet or relocate the rack to a spot that can handle the heat, and we settle which one during the walkthrough, before any equipment goes in.
It's common. Builders in Gilbert typically prewire based on a generic interior layout and rarely extend that plan to the patio, even in newer subdivisions with real backyard living space. Adding outdoor speaker wiring after the fact usually means running new low-voltage cable through the attic and down an exterior wall, then treating the patio as its own zone rather than an afterthought bolted onto the interior system. We plan the outdoor run at the same time we finish the indoor work whenever possible.
Probably not. A lot of Gilbert lots run deep rather than wide, so a layout designed for a square yard leaves the far end quiet no matter how loud the near speakers play. For a long, narrow yard we typically plan multiple zones along the length of the space instead of one pair near the patio, so coverage stays even from the house all the way to the back fence.
Yes. Agritopia, Seville, and Val Vista Lakes tend to have more homes built around real outdoor living, pools, covered patios, and outdoor kitchens, which is why we install weatherproof televisions and outdoor audio in these areas more frequently than almost anywhere else we work. We select displays and speakers rated for outdoor exposure and mount them in locations that account for sun angle and covered versus open patio areas.
