Quality sound is essential to fully enjoy your outdoor living space.
Amp AV handles outdoor sound system in Gilbert and across the East Valley, about 15 minutes from our Mesa shop. Gilbert is largely a new-build town, and that is good news for anyone adding technology: a large share of the homes we see were prewired at construction, so the structured cabling is already in the walls waiting to be used.

What a Gilbert Prewire Actually Gets You
Gilbert grew fast, and most of it grew recently, which means a large share of the homes we visit already carry structured cable in the walls from the day they were framed. That is a real head start over retrofitting an older neighborhood from nothing. But a builder’s prewire is not the same as a system someone designed around how you actually use the yard. We regularly open the equipment closet a builder left behind and find every cable run terminated in a space with no ventilation and no room to mount a rack, because the electrician who pulled that wire was following a generic spec sheet, not planning for where speakers should sit relative to the patio, pool, or kitchen window. The other pattern specific to Gilbert is lot shape. In Agritopia, Seville, and Val Vista Lakes, lot shapes lean long and narrow instead of square, and the bigger single-family homes here back onto real outdoor living space. That’s a big reason an outdoor sound system in Gilbert ranks among the projects we install most often in this market. A layout sized for a square Valley backyard leaves the far end of a deep Gilbert lot quiet, so we plan zones along the length of the yard instead of treating it as one room.
Building on Top of What's Already There
Once we have sorted out what a Gilbert prewire actually gives us, the build itself follows the same equipment Amp AV uses on every outdoor entertainment job, sized to the property. Speaker cable for the landscape zones is direct-burial rated, so it goes in the ground rather than in conduit above it, leaving the house through a stub-out and tracking whatever path the coverage plan needs across a lot that runs long from front to back. The amplifier stays indoors in a climate-controlled spot, ideally a rebuilt version of that builder’s closet with real airflow, not the sealed box it started as. Manufacturers typically cover landscape speakers for 5 years and patio speakers for 10 years or longer, and our own labor coverage on either type runs 2 years. Control comes from whatever platform is already running indoors, whether that is Sonos, VSSL, Control4 or Savant. The yard becomes another zone on the system you already know how to use, not a second app to learn. For a patio or pool area, we install only outdoor-rated televisions built for direct Arizona sun and heat.

During the course of our new build, we got a few AV quotes, but when I visited the showroom and spoke to Greg I was sold. During the build process I was there daily watching subs and their work, AMP AV was always on time, extremely meticulous in the routing of cables and placement of equipment, and always clean. At the end of the install, everything was as planned and looks amazing. Never being a home audio guy, it sold me after this experience with Greg and Ryan. Also being a little tech challenged, they came back out to dial me and my wife in on how to use everything to it's potential. Definitely recommend, and this is not a paid review. 5 stars!Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommended. They installed a home theater surround sound system and also fixed some faulty wiring for our patio speakers. Excellent work quality, great communication, and showed up on time for each planned visit.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team are pros; they were very comprehensive in the consultation process, provided detailed quotes, and showed value. Once on-site the crew was knowledgeable, respectful, and eager to customize to meet our needs. I’d recommend any day of the week.Posted on Google![]()

Greg and his team were great to work with! Greg came out for the initial assessment and answered all of my questions. When his techs Ryan and Easton showed up they were prompt, courteous, and did a wonderful job installing my network drops and cameras. Highly recommend working with the Amp AV team!Posted on Google![]()

We absolutely recommend Greg/Amp AV. This company came out (hired mid to late 2019) and fixed a huge mess from our previous home automation guys. Our system was left complicated. Greg is honest, patient, and extremely willing to help. Amp AV gave us options and were willing to work around with the equipment we already had. Not only are they friendly and professional, the response time is quick and scheduling is made in a timely manner. We will continue to use this company and I would highly recommend for your home automation/tech needs. Prices are fair, I did compare to a few different companies.Load more
Gilbert Questions
It gets you a head start, not a finished plan. Structured cable in the walls tells us the electrician already ran conduit toward some part of the yard, which saves time. It does not mean the speaker locations, the amp closet, or the wire path match where you actually want sound. We open the closet and trace the runs before promising anything works as is.
Usually not on its own. A single pair of speakers sized for a square backyard tends to sound full up close and thin out toward the back of a long Gilbert lot. Planning an outdoor sound system in Gilbert usually means splitting coverage into zones along the depth of the yard, run on the same amplifier and control app, so volume stays even from the patio door out to the fence line.
Gilbert has more HOA-governed, master-planned neighborhoods than most of the areas we serve, so we plan installs with that in mind. Landscape speakers get placed in beds or under eaves rather than mounted on visible surfaces, wiring runs underground or inside stucco rather than along fence lines, and outdoor TVs go in shaded, recessed alcoves where possible. We do not know your specific HOA's rules, so always check your governing documents before installation, but we build with visibility and appearance in mind.
This is common in Gilbert's newer subdivisions, builders group all the low-voltage terminations into one small closet with no airflow and no rack space, often right beside mechanical equipment. Running an outdoor audio amplifier in a space like that risks heat buildup and premature failure. We typically relocate the amp to a ventilated spot nearby, or add a small vented enclosure and fan inside the existing closet, so the gear stays cool and the original prewire still gets used.
Lot sizes in Gilbert communities like Agritopia, Seville, and Val Vista Lakes tend toward the generous side, and owners there treat the patio and yard as an extension of the house rather than an afterthought behind it. Full patio setups are a natural fit for that kind of property, and it's one of the builds we take on most frequently in this market. For a covered patio and kitchen, that usually means a weatherproof TV rated for Arizona heat mounted where it stays shaded, plus landscape or patio speakers tied in as a zone on your existing audio system. We can walk your space and lay out placement before anything gets installed.
